John Sinkus

President & Co-Founder

John Sinkus is a Founding Partner with BTE Consulting and the firm’s President.  John leverages his more than 25 years of enterprise systems architecture, business and project thought leadership and CIO experience to successfully advise clients regarding their business and technology strategies. John is also involved in creating the firm’s solution offerings as well as sales and delivery.

An accomplished practitioner in the finance, insurance, logistics, human resource, and management consulting industries, Mr. Sinkus has successfully orchestrated several large-scale, global projects with responsibility for budgets ranging from $8 million to $45 million and project teams spread across several countries.  .

Prior to starting BTE Consulting, Mr. Sinkus was the Managing Partner for a national information technology consulting company.  In this role, he was responsible for the Midwest region, the firm’s largest entity, including the quality of consulting engagements, sales and recruiting, P&L management and overall branch operations.  Mr. Sinkus also served as European Chief Information Officer of a major international benefits consulting company where he managed the information technology operations of 13 offices across eight countries and focused on partnering European business needs with appropriate technical solutions.

A noted speaker and thought leader, Mr. Sinkus has presented to Chief Executive Officers and Board of Directors for several Fortune 500 companies, and presented at numerous business and technology seminars.  He is also the author of a systems architecture methodology which was utilized and sold by a large, publicly held international consulting company.

Mr. Sinkus holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Psychology from Loyola University Chicago.

 

Carl Thomas

Chief Operating Officer & Co-Founder

Carl Thomas is one of the founding partners of BTE Consulting and is the firm’s Chief Operating Officer.  He brings a wealth of experience and creativity to his clients.  He often consults with the executive office of client companies and is excellent at simplifying the complex, to design and build pragmatic solutions for his clients.  Mr. Thomas is also involved in the sales and marketing activities for the firm.

Armed with in-depth expertise across the distribution, manufacturing, insurance, financial services and healthcare industries, Mr. Thomas has overseen large-scale, global IT projects with responsibility for budgets ranging from $4 million to $100 million.  His architecture expertise and keen insight into both businesses and technologies have provided his clients with sustainable competitive advantages in their markets.

Mr. Thomas’ business and technical expertise span a variety of areas, including the rapid prototyping of solution designs, creation of enterprise architectures, design and implementation of cloud and mobility solutions, delivering business analytics, and social enterprise and collaboration solutions.   His expertise has been used by companies to successfully implement and effectively utilize new technology.

Mr. Thomas holds a master of business administration degree from Roosevelt University and a bachelor of science in quantitative methods from the University of Illinois. 

 

Bill Hepola

Chief Architect

As Chief Architect at BTE, Bill Hepola is responsible for delivery quality -- ensuring the technical approaches used by BTE delivery teams are the right fit for the client situation and that the work performed is done efficiently and to a high level of quality.
Since joining BTE in 2009, Hepola has worked with companies in Financial Services, Healthcare, Logistics, and Information Services – bringing to each client a fresh way to view their use of technology and using his 30 years of experience to help them chart a path forward.

Before joining BTE, Hepola spent 12 years as owner of Observation Point, a technology planning firm specializing in integration of applications at the enterprise level. Prior to that, he held positions as senior manager of information technology architecture at Whitman-Hart, as senior technologist at FutureSource where in the late 1980’s he led the design and construction of its commodity price dissemination system using a then-radical approach of a cluster of commodity hardware instead of a single large computer, and as the president of Sourceware, an early PC software publisher he co-founded.

 

Dave Findling

Vice President Cloud and Mobility Services

David Findling is responsible for cloud and mobility services to provide customers with more visibility to information at the edges of their business enabling better and faster decisions. With an affinity toward technology and its application to solve business problems, Findling has background in customer-facing experiences, business and technology product development, services and more importantly, the ability to combine these components together into customer solutions. Findling has experience delivering solutions across a number of industries including:  manufacturing, retail,  field service,  transportation & logistics, medical diagnostics, public utilities, and public safety. His expertise has earned him an outstanding reputation for innovative solution architectures, evaluating industry trends and leveraging emerging technologies to solve customer problems. 

A leader in the fields of enterprise mobility, wireless technology, and Web2.0 applications, Findling has more than 30 years of experience working with innovative companies like Motorola, ARDIS, Abbott Laboratories, Intel, and startup Wizdom Systems. During his eleven year career at Motorola, Findling served in a number of roles such as senior director responsible for developing Cloud Application Services, he served as the senior director with Motorola’s Applied Research Center, leading next generation technology, software, and systems research (Web 2.0 applications, Wireless, Mobility, Devices, RFID, and Video), he also served as director and chief enterprise architect for Motorola’s Information Technology Office.  Findling holds a master’s degree in information technology from Northwestern University, where he occasionally serves as an adjunct instructor.
